‘His very existence literally dissolves the fiction of creator and created, beginning and end. He has constructed his own womb and stepped inside. In his self-conception is the essence of timelessness. The beginning is the end’.
Douglas Rushkoff, 1994.
Womb is a personal project exploring the connection
between House music and a return to the womb like experience, facilitated by
the music’s 120 beat per minute cycle – the same as the fetal heartbeat. From
disused warehouses to bespoke clubs, the series explores this deeply individual,
yet collective experience. Through hours of total immersion in the music, a
higher state of consciousness can be reached, altering linear time and fixed
place and melting away a lifetime of accumulated psychological barriers and
defence-mechanisms. Ingrained fear, negativity, cynicism and self-consciousness
are replaced with an enhanced sense of self-worth, self-forgiveness and
complete self-acceptance, creating a feeling of peace with oneself and the
world - ‘facilitating contact with God within’.
